While using a garbage chute in your building, all the waste from different floors is transported inside the same tube to the collection point in the basement. As a result of this, various kinds of waste are carried and some people can throw down unpacked food waste into the chute. This can cause bad smell in the chutes, worsening especially in the Summer season. It is easily carried away by airflow into the building and the surrounding area.

- Ozone
Ozone generators are being promoted as an effective method to clean indoor air pollution and odours. However, ozone is a lung irritant that can cause adverse health effects (NSW Government Health, 2015). We instead use naturally formulated essential oil blends to control malodorous by deodorising and disinfecting the air.
- Alcohol
Alcohol(=ethanol) evaporates faster than water, which makes it a good option for drawing the scent up through the air freshening unit in the garbage room. However, ethanol is a volatile and highly flammable liquid that should be treated and handled like gasoline.
- UV
Ultra-violet light is environment-friendly and causes the bonds within the complex odour molecules to break down, transforming them into smaller, harmless compounds. However, it is costly for a significant outcome because the UV unit should be big, heavy, and hard to be maintained.
